Next Thursday, 14 October be launched in Palau Robert de Barcelona , exposure "Gifts: the força of Canvi a l'Índia," a work of photographer Albert Uriach has documented the lives of six women and an Indian girl, program participants development of the Vicente Ferrer Foundation (FVF) . The exhibition will be of October 15, 2010 to January 9, 2011 . Doreen Reddy, director of the Women's sector of the VFF in India, has traveled from Anantapur to attend the inauguration.


The sample, from the photo essay is raised from two aspects: firstly presents the daily life of women, their work, the intimacy of domestic space and their customs and traditions, and their relationships with family and the rest of the community. On the other hand, relates the reality of each woman with the various policy areas in the comprehensive development program conducted by the NGO. The exhibition contains more than 120 photographs, grouped into seven chapters, and an audiovisual presentation of 20 minutes.

The VFF has worked for over 40 years in the south east of India, one of the most underdeveloped areas of the country, with a global action to eradicate the extreme poverty that includes the fields education, housing, health, ecology, women and persons with disabilities. The exhibition documents exceeding seven stories with a double discrimination, being female and belonging to the lowest strata of Indian caste system, legally abolished but still existing in practice, especially in rural areas, despite effort of the Government of India.

Given this reality the VFF works for the most disadvantaged communities in rural India, the Dalits or untouchables, tribals and backward casts, are the protagonists of their own development and become autonomous.
